There’s Always Room
Sculptural Mixed Media by Sue T.
“There’s Always Room” is a vibrant sculptural piece created in response to the theme “Building Bigger Tables.” It features 253 uniquely designed figures positioned in a growing circle of community around Jesus—who is taller than the rest, with outstretched arms—welcoming everyone in. This piece invites viewers into a space of radical inclusion and belonging. The figures vary in size, shape, color, and pattern, representing the beautiful spectrum of humanity, including members of the LGBTQIA+ and trans community. Behind them, a trifold mirror reflects the crowd outward into infinity—and also includes the viewer’s own reflection, a quiet reminder that you, too, are part of this table. Scattered empty spaces throughout the circle further emphasize that there's always room for more. Created with mixed media—paper, wood beads, and 85 cotton balls—this piece radiates warmth, diversity, and celebration. It invites us to imagine a more expansive, joyful community—one where everyone has a seat.
