Luminous Journey

Traditional pencil artwork focuses primarily on marking shadows and colors to build and depict a scene. For this piece, however, I chose to focus on the light by using only white colored pencil on dark paper. This creates a symbolic tone of peace: a light that guides everyone through life. The butterflies are an extension of this metaphor—an insect that commonly symbolizes personal growth and transformation. The central butterfly, as well as those flying in the background, show that peace is something we move toward over time. The path created by the flowers and glow of sunlight represents a journey through a path of peace and beauty in life.
