All Are Welcome

Ceramic Sculpture by Tom Germuska

In memoriam of Tom Germuska: A dear friend and longtime student of Thrown Elements Pottery.

Tom had a vision for this piece from the start. Showing a table with a leaf extender standing upon broken down fencing. It stands as a great representation of the theme, but also the type of person he was. He was always the first to make someone new feel welcome in our space and fully embodied the philosophy of equity and inclusivity. His relationships in our space transcended all demographics, including age, race, gender, and socioeconomic status. He treated everyone equally and always made sure to keep an extra eye on the most vulnerable of us. This piece is very precious to all of us, being the last piece he worked on before he passed. The glaze applied to this piece is made of his own ashes memorializing and honoring the wonderful person and student he was.
